Saturday morning at like 6:30 am, I hear Matt get out of bed, and then I hear him say, What the crap!! So I jump out of bed, run out into the family room, and there is water dripping from the arch way that seperates the kitchen and family room. There are huge paint bubbles just filled with water. Matt runs upstairs and the upstairs bathroom is flooding. The toilet had been overflowing for who knows how long, and had just kept running, which was making water just flow into the bathroom, through the floors, and leaking through the ceiling in the kitchen. The floor in the kitchen is totally soaked, as well as the carpet that seperates the kitchen from the family room. We are grabbing towels and coolers to have the water drip into. It is a total mess.
I call my mom and dad and have them come out to our house with fans. Matt ended up calling some neighbors in our ward who own RestoreMasters, they are kind of like Utah Disaster cleanup, and asking if we can borrow some of their fans.
She told us what we needed to do to start the process of clean up. She told us to get rid of all the padding from where the carpet is wet, and just throw it away, because it is no longer good.
So we had to lift up the carpet in the family room, cut out the pad, lay the carpet back down and have fans drying the carpet.
Upstairs, we didn't think it was that bad, but when we lifted the carpet in Alexa's room, where it connects to the upstairs bathroom, the pad is completely soaked, like you could ring it out it was so wet. So we did the same thing to her room.
The water even went downstairs into the basement. Thank goodness our basement isn't finished yet.
We have had the fans running all day Saturday, through the night, and have still had them on all day today. Our neighbor said that her husband will come out on Monday, and let us know the cost of damages. We really hope that it hasn't ruined the sheet rock, and that we will just have to repaint and replace the carpet pad.
So we've done all that we can do, and now we just wait and see what the next step is. I took some pictures of some of the damage on the ceiling, and archway.
We are just so happy that it wasn't worse than it was, and that we weren't out of town or anything like we were last weekend.

What a mess. Hopefully it's not a costly fix!
That sucks!!! We had that happen in our bathroom also but are very lucky because it just went into the basement that is not finished yet.
Hope all is well!!!
That really sucks! Now you get a big hole in the ceiling. Lucky you!
Oh my gosh, that sucks. I am sorry. It could of been worse though, like you said. Good luck.
